Bassie was a keynote speaker at the FNB Business Women’s Breakfast, a sold-out event during the 2018 Women’s month, that featured other South African business greats like as Lynette Ntuli, Emma Sadleir and Dr. Judy Dlamini. The event was attended by hundreds of business women from various sectors in KwaZulu-Natal and beyond, who were inspired to #BeUnstoppable. The event held in association with East Coast Radio, at the Durban ICC on Monday 20 August.

“You do not need to change who you are to be unstoppable. You need to master your own strengths and work on your weaknesses. Personal mastery is the answer to many questions.”

Bassie delved into what makes someone unstoppable. She said, “Those who are unstoppable are in their own world. They don’t compete with anyone but themselves. You never know what they will do, only that you will be forced to respond.”

On East Coast Breakfast, ’Bassie’ talks about her excitement to be a keynote speaker at the FNB Business Women’s Breakfast. She is enthralled at the theme – Unstoppable – and says she supports women starting businesses. She gives a few other tips in this audio, as well as talks about her start in business.

Listen to the interview below:

Bassie talked about said her journey, and attributed her achievements to personal mastery. She said that she made a conscious decision to be a rebel with a cause, in order to change lives and create jobs. She wanted to make sure she wrote a new script about excellence, about what women could achieve and how they could propel another generation to greatness.

“Be unstoppable in pursuit of your dreams. Have the courage to stand up for others, too, because that’s how you create a movement of unstoppable women, how you impact the greater good,”

Explaining what Personal Mastery is, Bassie described it as the innate realization that you as you are, are enough. The only thing that stands between yourself and your power is you. Personal Mastery is guided by principles such as purpose, vision, belief, commitment and knowing oneself. It is about a path towards continuous improvement of the Self. Personal Mastery is what’s going to take you from good to great. We must think – what kind of value can I bring, who do I need to become, what do I need to learn and how do I become better.

“Part of my reflection included Marianne Williamson poem which I absolutely love. “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.”

We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do.

We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fears, our presence automatically liberates others.”

She went on to remind the women in attendance that their passion will make them unstoppable:

“The only person standing between yourself and your power is you. Go forth and master yourself, go forth and be unstoppable, go forth and make a difference in the world.”
